On 15th May 2025, Ms. Maya Sherman, Founder of Life Lab (Israel) and an internationally recognized innovation consultant, visited Meghalaya to gain firsthand insights into the state’s growing startup ecosystem. The visit was facilitated by PRIME Startup Hub as part of its ongoing efforts to build global networks and enable international exposure for local entrepreneurs and institutions.
The day began with an in-depth interaction at the PRIME Startup Hub, where Maya was briefed on PRIME Meghalaya’s initiatives, sectoral engagement, and startup support frameworks. She held conversations with the incubation and partnership teams, exchanging ideas on ecosystem development, early-stage entrepreneurship, and community-driven innovation.
Maya also interacted with a few entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, learning about their ventures, challenges, and aspirations. She offered valuable feedback, shared global examples, and encouraged founders to explore scalable, purpose-driven models.
In the second half of the visit, Maya engaged with students and faculty members from selected academic institutions in Shillong. These sessions focused on design thinking, entrepreneurial mindset, and the role of innovation in solving local and global problems. She emphasized the need for co-creation between academic institutions and incubators, and discussed avenues for collaborative learning between Israel and Meghalaya.
The visit concluded with a debrief session where Maya appreciated the energy, intent, and creativity she witnessed during her engagements, highlighting Meghalaya’s unique potential in grassroots innovation and youth-led entrepreneurship.Outcome:
