A capacity-building session on the Revised System for FSSAI Application and Registration was conducted on 29 May 2026 with the objective of enhancing awareness among food business operators (FBOs), entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders regarding food safety compliance and regulatory requirements.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Streamlet Sohtun, who underscored the significance of food safety compliance in fostering consumer confidence, facilitating enterprise growth, and enhancing market access for food businesses.

Before the technical session, the resource person, Smt. D. B. S. Mukhim, Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety (Enforcement), was felicitated by Ms Streamlet Sohtun. Smt. Mukhim subsequently delivered a comprehensive presentation covering key aspects of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) framework, including the FSSAI Act and Regulations, penalties for non-compliance, labelling requirements, revised registration and licensing thresholds, health and hygiene requirements under Schedule IV, and regulatory provisions relating to packaging materials and compliance standards.

The session provided participants with an in-depth understanding of the latest regulatory updates and highlighted the importance of obtaining the appropriate FSSAI registration and licence as a critical step towards business formalisation, enhanced product credibility, and improved market readiness. Emphasis was also placed on the role of accurate labelling, compliant packaging, and adherence to food safety practices in safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring long-term business sustainability.
