PRIME Meghalaya Collaborates with COLKS for Rural Skill Development Training

Empowering Entrepreneurs through Hands-On Learning!

PRIME Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Centre of Learning, Knowledge and Services (COLKS), successfully organised a six-day training program on soap and detergent making at Lumsohpet Bneng, Ri-Bhoi District, from 10th to 15th November 2025.

The training focused on practical learning, where participants gained hands-on experience in making different types of soaps, including body wash and detergent soaps. Through step-by-step demonstrations and practice sessions, the participants not only learned the techniques but also built the confidence to start or expand their own ventures.

Entrepreneurs shared their inspiring takeaways from the training.

Co-founder of the PRP Soap Enterprise, Umpling, said, “This training really helped me understand the soap-making process step by step. Earlier, I had many doubts, especially about how to make body wash soap, but now everything is clear. I feel much more confident to produce it on my own. After this training, we plan to start producing both body wash and detergent soaps under our enterprise.”

Leadingwell Rangdong from Wahumlein, a registered walk-in of PRIME Meghalaya, added, “I came here with very little knowledge about how to make soap, but through this training, I’ve learned the basics- from ingredients to the actual production process. It has given me the skills, knowledge, and confidence to start my own soap-making business.”

The Business Facilitation Team and the Media & Communications Team of PRIME Meghalaya also joined the session, interacting with participants and explaining how PRIME Meghalaya supports entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses through facilitation, mentorship, and market linkages.

A total of 27 participants attended the training, reflecting strong enthusiasm and commitment from everyone involved. The collaboration between PRIME Meghalaya and COLKS continues to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem by empowering local communities with skills, knowledge, and opportunities for sustainable livelihood.
