On 12th June 2025, a team from ALSiSAR Impact Private Limited, a leading transaction advisory firm specialising in impact investing across South Asia, visited PRIME Startup Hub, Shillong to engage with the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Meghalaya. With deep experience in frontier and conflict-zone focused entrepreneurship and a strong track record working with over 600 social enterprises and 60+ impact funds across regions like India, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, ALSiSAR’s visit represented a significant opportunity to position Meghalaya-based ventures for greater national and global investment exposure.
The visit began with an introductory session hosted by the PRIME team, providing ALSiSAR with an overview of Meghalaya’s innovation landscape, the structural role of PRIME as the state’s startup ecosystem enabler, and the support systems built under various verticals—such as incubation, funding access, mentorship, and ecosystem partnerships.
Following the presentation, 10 to 15 curated startups from sectors including sustainable agriculture, agri-processing, clean energy, health & wellness, eco-tourism, crafts, and digital services engaged in one-on-one and group-level interactions with the ALSiSAR team. Each entrepreneur shared their business journey, impact orientation, growth challenges, and scaling ambitions.
ALSiSAR offered strategic guidance on investor readiness, governance frameworks, financial sustainability, and impact assessment. The team highlighted how tailored transaction support and capital structuring could help promising Meghalaya-based ventures scale beyond the region. They also encouraged the creation of comprehensive company profiles to better understand the ventures’ potential and challenges, with an aim to map them against suitable investor portfolios.
Throughout the discussions, ALSiSAR explored possibilities for:
- Technical assistance for building investment pipelines
- Access to catalytic impact capital
- Connecting enterprises to aligned international and domestic funds
- Mentorship on financial modeling, compliance, and investment strategy
The session concluded with an internal wrap-up between ALSiSAR and the PRIME team, where both sides agreed to continue engagement by identifying high-potential ventures for follow-on support and exploring a structured channel for pipeline development from Meghalaya to ALSiSAR’s wider network of impact investors.Outcome:
The visit of ALSiSAR Impact Private Limited marked a key milestone in linking Meghalaya’s grassroots entrepreneurial efforts with experienced impact investment facilitators. The exchange opened avenues for future collaborations and support mechanisms that align with ALSiSAR’s regional expertise and PRIME’s mission to strengthen startup ecosystems in the Northeast. It underscored the investability of Meghalaya’s emerging ventures and set the stage for more structured investor engagement in the near future.
