Emisouwi’s business idea of starting up his own Pizzeria came into being as he wanted to create employment for himself and others. And so, with thorough research and considering the fact that he wanted to contribute to the society, he found out that there is a lack of continental restaurants in Shillong.
Though it was not an easy road for Emisouwi from making this decision to the time his vision became a reality but through his hard work and dedication, he was able to start up “The Pizza Barn”, the first of its kind, to serve fresh pizzas.
The Pizza Barn was inaugurated on the 3rd of June, 2019 by the Honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri. Conrad K. Sangma. Soon after, the Pizza Barn became a popular hangout place for the youths who were excited and curious enough to get a taste of the pizzas being served by Pizza Barn.
But when covid hit the State and lockdowns were imposed, he faced a lot of difficulties to manage his business as he had to shut down his doors for the people. He was struggling financially but through the support of family and friends, he could manage.
Later on, he came across PRIME Meghalaya and the Chief Minister’s E- Champion Challenge. He registered for the challenge and was selected as one of the Top 50 Entrepreneurs from the State of Meghalaya. Being incubated at PRIME, he was given free mentorship, trainings and sessions on how to grow and expand his business.
And on the 31st of March, 2022, he officially launched the newly formed branch of Pizza Barn, “The Crust” at PRIME Meghalaya along with Shri. Jagdish Chelani, I.A.S., Executive Director of M.B.M.A. as the Chief Guest in the presence of PRIME Staff and other entrepreneurs.
The Crust is named so, as the pizza crust that they are serving is a unique thin crust prepared from the dough kneaded by hand. And the stunning Black colour classy Food Truck really gives a message of the classiness of the pizzas being served at The Crust. He is also planning to invade his crust into different kinds of shapes and sizes thus breaking the rules and tradition of it being round.
Further, Emisouwi looks forward to get more trainings from PRIME such as motivational classes, etiquette classes and hospitality tips in order to train their staffs to mould them not only professionally but also outside the kitchen.
