Meghalaya Impact Week, 2022

PRIME in collaboration with the Airline Lufthansa and their NGO-arm Help Alliance conducted a multi-day event called “Impact Week” where first 20 faculties from 10 academic institutes across the state were trained in the Design Thinking methodology. Subsequently a full day event was held with 55 students from across the state to develop solutions for pressing issues of the state like pollution, sustainable tourism or livelihood creation from 19th March to 9th April, 2022.

The Workshop started with a warm welcome address by Mr. Flo Oberhofer, Program Head, PRIME, followed by an introductory session by the Impact Week team who were present physically and virtually.

The team of the PRIME and Impact Week worked in the hybrid mode to create an innovative learning experience at PRIME Start up Hub for young minds to come together. In the first of its kind, a team of Impact Week coaches from the reputed Lufthansa Group and various other multinational organizations joined in from across the world to guide the Faculty members who were trained in Design Thinking methodology to further lead the students into rapid ideation and prototyping of new ideas, business models and concepts with local coaches supporting the students onsite.

The program was attended by Shri Jagdish Chelani, I.A.S., Executive Director of M.B.M.A. and Shri Aiban Swer, Director of M.B.D.A., Smt. Neelam Pandey, Smt. Laxhmi Rao, Smt.  Tripti & Shri. Vasu were the coaches & organizers of the Impact Week Meghalaya, 2022. Mr. George Ettiyil, Senior Director of Lufthansa Group South Asia, Jens Unger had joined the program virtually.

The program witnessed participants of Faculty Members and students were divided into teams, each to discuss, work together and learn more about the Design Thinking concept. Processes like recapping and creation of Team name, logo and setting up of expectation, Research, Synthesis, Cross sharing, Ideation, prototyping, Testing and Pitch Presentation.

Through these phases, the faculties and students were able to develop a business plan keeping in mind the challenges. The online coaches were able to give their feedback on their work, preparing them for the Final presentation which the different institutes presented. The workshop ended with a productive interactive session on the business plan prepared by the participants.
